BRONX, May 29, 2008 -- Aging In America Community Services, Inc. has announced the expansion of its Adult Day Care services to the Bronx community. The newly developed Pelham Parkway Wellness Café will offer a wide variety of programming including group and individual activities, social work services, personal care services, exercise programs, medical and diagnostic services, clinical management, rehabilitative services, educational workshops, escorted trips, music and art programs, and other special events.
The Wellness Café also includes continental breakfast, hot lunch and afternoon snacks, escorted transportation to and from home, assistance with activities of daily living, caregiver support and an information and referral unit for skilled nursing, home care and community based resources.
The Aging in America Adult Day Care Programs of the Bronx enable older persons to maintain their ability to function, remain in their own homes and continue to be involved in community activities as long as possible. Day Care Programs afford primary caregivers much needed rest from their responsibilities and ease the overwhelming physical and emotional demands upon them.
Aging in America Community Services received a grant in the amount of $50,000 to establish the Wellness Café thanks to New York State Assemblywoman Naomi Rivera.
The Wellness Café will host an open house the week of June 2 – June 5 and all members of the community are welcome to attend and try out the activities. A ribbon cutting ceremony with Assemblywoman Naomi Rivera will be held on June 13th at 10:00 AM at 1500 Pelham Parkway in the Bronx,
